Funny fart sound effects

The ones built to land a laugh: a tiny squeak, an absurdly long one, a false ending, and the polite cough that fails to cover it.

  • Pick by how it cuts, not just how it sounds
  • A take timed to your gag, not a soundboard rip
  • Clean audio you can trim to the frame

Comic fart sounds for edits, animation, and games

Tiny squeak

0:02

Thin, brief, and over immediately. The smallness is the joke, and it lands cleanly on a frame because there is no tail.

Edit prompt

Absurdly long

0:09

Holds far past what is reasonable then gives out. The comedy is entirely duration, so it needs picture to play under it.

Edit prompt

False ending

0:05

Stops, pauses, then starts again. The silence in the middle is the structure, and it gives an editor two beats instead of one.

Edit prompt

Muffled on a seat

0:03

Rounded and buzzy with the bright edge gone. The upholstery does the work, and it places the gag somewhere specific.

Edit prompt

With a cough over it

0:02

A polite cough arriving slightly too late. The failed cover is funnier than the sound it fails to cover.

Edit prompt

Descending run

0:03

Several bursts falling in pitch. The downward run reads as deflation, which no single burst manages.

Ways to use funny fart sound effects

Land a gag on the exact frame

A tiny squeak has no tail at all, so it hits precisely and lets the next line start immediately after it.

Let one run far too long

An absurdly long take fills a silence and gets funnier as it continues, which is the only joke duration can tell.

Give the audience two beats

A false ending lets a room relax and then catches it again, so one clip carries a setup and a payoff.

Show someone trying to cover it

A cough arriving a beat late tells the whole story of a character reacting, in a shot that never cuts to them.

FAQs

What makes a fart sound funny rather than just rude?
Structure and timing. A tiny squeak is funny because it is anticlimactic, a very long one because it outstays its welcome, and a false ending because it catches a room that has already relaxed. Texture matters far less than shape.
What is a false ending and why does it work?
The sound stops, leaves a clear silence, then starts again briefly. It works because an audience releases tension in the gap and has to do it twice, which gets a second laugh from a single clip.
How long should a comedy fart be?
Around 1.5 seconds if it has to land on a cut, and as long as eight if the duration is the joke. Anything in between tends to be neither precise nor absurd, which is why so many stock clips fail to land.
Why add a cough afterwards?
Because the failed cover-up is funnier than the sound itself. A polite throat-clearing arriving a beat too late tells an audience there is a person reacting, without needing to cut to them at all.
How do I place the gag somewhere specific?
Name the surface. A padded seat rounds the sound and removes the bright edge, which puts it on a chair, in a car or on a sofa. The upholstery does more for the scene than the fart does.
Can I use these sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each one is generated rather than pulled off a shared soundboard, you also avoid the exact clip your audience has already heard.
