Bright cheer
0:02Warm and genuine, rising then falling. The version to use when the win is real and the scene is not being ironic about it.
Deadpan
0:03Flat, even, and completely without energy. The absence of enthusiasm is the joke, so any lift in the delivery kills it.
Small group
0:03Three or four voices overlapping briefly. A group reads as an event where one voice reads as a comment.
Child cheer
0:02Thin, high, and unrestrained. It carries a sincerity the adult takes cannot, which changes the tone of a whole beat.
Sarcastic drawl
0:04Drawn out and sliding downward. It reads as open mockery rather than deadpan, which is a different register again.
Cheer with a party horn
0:03A cheer with a paper blowout across it. The prop makes it a celebration rather than a reaction.

Ways to use the yay sound effect
Let a flat read fill the pause
A deadpan cheer sits in a silence and undercuts whatever just happened, which the bright version cannot do.
Edit prompt
Tell the audience how to read the moment
The same beat is a triumph with a genuine cheer and a failure with a sarcastic drawl. The delivery is the whole instruction.
Edit prompt
Put a room full of people off screen
A small group cheering tells the audience there are others there, in a shot that only ever shows one person.

FAQs
How do I make a cheer sound sincere rather than ironic?
Ask for warmth and a rise then a fall. Genuine celebration lifts and then settles, while an ironic one stays flat or slides downward. The pitch shape carries the sincerity more than the volume does.
What makes a deadpan cheer work?
The complete absence of energy. It has to be even in pitch with no lift at all, because any enthusiasm at all pushes it back toward a real cheer and the joke disappears.
When should I use a group rather than one voice?
When the moment is an event rather than a comment. One voice reads as the editor reacting, while three or four overlapping reads as a room full of people, which puts the audience inside the scene instead of outside it.
Why generate one instead of downloading a clip?
Because circulating versions have been re-encoded repeatedly and sound harsh next to clean dialogue. A generated take gives you uncompressed audio at the length you asked for, and it is not the same file everyone else uses.
How long should a cheer be?
Around 1.5 to 2 seconds for a beat that lands on a cut, and up to 3 if it needs to fill a pause. Ask for at least 1.5 seconds, since very short requests tend to come back too quiet to use.
Can I use this cheer commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Generating your own take also avoids the licensing question that comes with reusing someone else's upload.
